*In a clinical study published in 2008, metabolically obese, normal weight individuals (see “Obesity-At-A-Glance” section) were found to have an unfavorable adipokine profile, with low levels of adiponectin and high levels of leptin.  In addition, these subjects had higher concentrations of oxLDL when compared with their pair-matched controls.
